This weird title?
Well… apparently my body decided to test that theory yesterday.
In 30+ years of school and work, I had never once fallen asleep:
- not at school
- not at university
- and definitely not at work
Not even a micro-nap.
That is…. Until yesterday.
Apparently ferritin at an all time low + a bad night + a really bad dream + a 05:30 alarm clock equals:
sudo shutdown -h now
I remember our first meeting.
I think I remember grabbing a coffee between two meetings.
But after that?
Blank.
I don’t remember closing my eyes.
I don’t remember thinking: man, I’m tired.
Nothing.
One moment I was functioning normally.
The next moment my brain apparently decided to execute:
sudo shutdown -h now
I slept for at least 35 minutes.
I woke up briefly, fully aware that I was absolutely exhausted.
I remember rubbing my temples.
Rubbing my eyes.
Trying to reboot my brain manually.
But after that?
Blank. Again.
Apparently the shutdown sequence resumed.
After lunch, my brain finally booted up properly again and I started feeling normal.
What still amazes me is that my brain didn’t do a tiny micro-sleep or a short doze.
Nope.
It apparently skipped straight past suspend mode and executed a full:
sudo shutdown -h now
followed by an unplanned hibernate cycle.
I should have listened to my body that morning.
Getting out of bed at 05:30 already felt wrong.
That should have been the clue.
Instead of listening, I ignored it, went to the office anyway and apparently my brain later decided to force the issue for me.
Can I blame this on my CEO Bob?
